Can't install package Community Toolkit.Maui

I am using .net 8, and VS 2022 ver 17.13.6 in a Windows app.
When I try to install the CommunityToolkit.Maui package I get an error that says

**Package CommunityToolkit.Maui 11.2.0 is not compatible with net8.0-android34.0 (.NETCoreApp,Version=v8.0) / iossimulator-x64. Package CommunityToolkit.Maui 11.2.0 supports:

• net9.0 (.NETCoreApp,Version=v9.0)
• net9.0-android35.0 (.NETCoreApp,Version=v9.0)
• net9.0-ios18.0 (.NETCoreApp,Version=v9.0)
• net9.0-maccatalyst18.0 (.NETCoreApp,Version=v9.0)
• net9.0-tizen10.0 (.NETCoreApp,Version=v9.0)
• net9.0-windows10.0.19041 (.NETCoreApp,Version=v9.0)**

I've installed the code from the https://github.com/CommunityToolkit/Maui site

I'm not sure where this code goes except in the MainPage: xmlns:toolkit="http://schemas.microsoft.com/dotnet/2022/maui/toolkit"

Since I'm not an expert, I'm not sure what to do about this.

The latest version of the toolkit you can use with net8.0 is 9.1.1 https://www.nuget.org/packages/CommunityToolkit.Maui/9.1.1

Correct. You must update to .NET 9 to use the latest release of CommunityToolkit.Maui.

I created a new app to .net 9.
When I tried loading CommunityToolkit.Maui 11.2.0 it gave me another error:

**Warning As Error: Detected package downgrade: Microsoft.Maui.Controls from 9.0.50 to 9.0.14. Reference the package directly from the project to select a different version.

MauiToolkitCRUD -> CommunityToolkit.Maui 11.2.0 -> Microsoft.Maui.Controls (>= 9.0.50 && < 10.0.0)
MauiToolkitCRUD -> Microsoft.Maui.Controls (>= 9.0.14)**

So, do I just keep reducing the version of CommunityToolkit.Maui until it installs?

It sounds like you don't have the latest MAUI workload installed. I thought we were in sync with the latest Visual Studio version are you using the latest version of VS?

@TonyScarpelli You're experiencing a circular NuGet Package Dependency.

To fix it, you have two options:

1. Edit MauiToolkitCRUD.csproj and remove the PackageReference to Microsoft.Maui.Controls
2. Edit MauiToolkitCRUD.csproj and update the package version for Microsoft.Maui.Controls to v9.0.50
