Scripting: run this on note X?

I have created a note and made it a script by setting type JS frontend. I can navigate to that note and run it using the play button or ctrl-enter, great! but how do I pass parameters to it? Or prompt for a note to select somewhere else and have it do it's thing there instead?

we sort of get there with {select note} >> r-click >> Advanced >> Apply bulk actions which has an [Execute script] field we can type or paste a one-liner. Our hello world test doesn't work though. It executes successfully but no message is shown. I'm guessing this means only JS Backend is involved?

@maphew , "Execute script" does not expose an api, it only exposes note pointing to the current note.

Depending on your use case, it's possible to specify a note as a "parameter" by using promoted attributes.
In the in-app help, have a look at Scripting / Examples / Using promoted attributes.

Thanks @eliandoran! Having bulk execution's scope narrowed to the note makes sense. It did feel like "run any javascript on anything from this box" was too open ended.

Unfortunately I don't see how to utilise a promoted attribute here. (I admit to being generally confused about attributes and relations in Trilium. I understand both of these well in other technical contexts, but whenever I try apply my understanding here it doesn't quite match. I expect there's a base concept I lack.)
