Compatibility Report

  • Name of the game with compatibility issues: "The Talos Principle: Reawakened"
  • Steam AppID of the game: 2806640

System Information

  • GPU: AMD RX 9070 XT
  • Video driver version: Mesa 25.1.1
  • Kernel version: 6.14.7
  • Link to full system information report as Gist: System Information
  • Proton version: 1746128130 hotfix-20250501

Proton log: steam-2806640.zip

I confirm:

  • that I haven't found an existing compatibility report for this game.
  • that I have checked whether there are updates for my system available.

Symptoms

The captured mouse in 1st person mode sometimes breaks free from the game in multi-monitor setups and leaks onto the other monitors. After breaking free there is a 30% chance that the next click on any window will crash the gnome-shell, which kills all running applications and sends the user back to the login screen. This is an issue with every game that allows the mouse cursor to seamlessly leave the game window in menus but captures it during gameplay.

Reproduction

Start the game, play the game. Run around and click things in 1st person. This issue happens randomly every 20 minutes or so.

EDIT: Doesn't seem to happen when Proton 9 is enforced.
