Flickering status bar

I'm using nvim 0.11.0 & lualine for my status line

My config looks like this:

    "andymass/vim-matchup",
    setup = function()
        vim.g.matchup_matchparen_enabled = 0
        vim.g.matchup_matchparen_offscreen = {}
        vim.g.matchup_matchparen_deferred = 1
        vim.g.matchup_matchparen_timeout = 100
        vim.g.matchup_surround_enabled = 1
        -- vim.g.matchup_text_obj_linewise_operators = ['d', 'y', 'c']
    end

When the matching pair happens to be outside the code visible on screen and moving the cursor on to a pair, my status line flickers. This is a known issue or am I missing something here?
