v0.19.4: Beta release #8

This release contains minor bug fixes compared to the previous release. It also adds explicit support for NetBSD as a platform.

New features:

• Added explicit support for NetBSD as a platform at build time, and support shutdown on NetBSD (Emile 'iMil' Heitor). (Note that shutdown is still not built by default except on Linux).

Fixes:

• fix for a glitch where dinitctl status would incorrectly show "no error" as the reason for service start failure.
• fix for corrupted error message for bad values for certain service settings.
• fix building Cgroups support even when SUPPORT_CGROUPS is set to 0 (MahnoKropotkinvich).

As usual, a number of minor fixes and improvements (in addition to those already mentioned) were contributed by Mobin Aydinfar.

I got optical disk automount to work with this:

udev-trigger.sh.txt
udev-trigger.txt

The shell code is taken from 'openrc-extra/udev/init.d/udev-trigger'.
The shell file is saved as '/usr/lib/dinit/udev-trigger' and started with '/usr/lib/dinit.d/udev-trigger'.
The string '/dev/root' occurs in mkinitcpio and glib2, so the symlink
is probably needed. It wasn't created without the above (which may still
be incomplete, but it does what I want).

I currently don't want to clone the external disk to /dev/sda, there is
no guarantee it'll work (really - I'm not sure that even cloning will work).

Don't mail me unless you have something to say besides RTFM. I did not
grow up with the Internet; it is a foreign language to me. And when I put something
into code tags I expect it to be printed as-is, but it wasn't. Therefore I had to upload
the files as attachments.

And don't RTFM users for your own bugs. I owe you nothing.

I presume you are referring to #472 and #473. I closed those because they are to do with services and their configuration and not bugs in Dinit. I also gave you some tips already on how to get more information about service status and referred you to the manual page for more information.

I don't NEED dinit. I am doing you a FAVOR by testing your software.

You are not doing me a favour by submitting low-quality reports about issues that I have no control over. Problems with service configuration are not bugs in Dinit. If you are using a distribution, it's better to report any issues that you find to them.

While I do appreciate user testing and informative bug reports, the favour here is going the other way - I am spending countless hours writing software that I let you use.

You are welcome to open discussions for help diagnosing service issues. Please open new discussions rather than hijacking release announcements, unless the problem is specific to the release.
