Context: I'm using dendron to manage my structured knowledge and I also use a notebook as well (where I doodle-diagram). Dendron has yet to replace all the features of my notebook, but I'm guessing thats what you're trying to achieve.
Proposal: Enable free drawing in scratch notes
Why: Those who create notes from the material world need higher dimensionality than text to encode their thoughts as notes... hence drawings.
Reference: Apple notes on iPad drawing feature
This is distinct from linking an image, linking images requires a separate capture tool (e.g. camera or draw.io) and then you add links (url to draw.io or url to hosted picture from camera) to your note... That could be V1 (#1450) but what this proposal is driving towards is free drawing within dendron scratch notes.
So V1 would be actual notes (CMD-L -> novel name -> <enter>) could refer to pictures uploaded to dendron which were created as scratch entries of a picture type (via #1450) this would allow scratchpad to enable a more creative space via pictures and eventually via free drawing (upgrade image storage with image editing).
Future: V2 could be enabling free drawing along side structured text inside (more like iPad draw/text hybrid notes)
