LoTW download - what does unmatched QSL mean

I did an LoTW download and the download box showed this:

> *** Unmatched QSLs: 
> 16/02/2025; WA7RCN; CW 
> 27/01/2025; SV1GA/A; FT8 

Neither of these qso's are in my log so the information is presumably coming from LoTW. I did work SV1GA/A but thought it was a pirate so deleted the contact in the log. Similarly WA7RCN is not in my log but whether I logged it and deleted it I don't know.

My question is what does 'Unmatched QSLs' mean in this instance?

I think it does mean that you had uploaded the QSOs to LoTW so when the other stations uploaded it created a QSL. When you delete a QSO it deletes from your local database but not from online LoTW. The SV1GA/A was approved by the DXCC office so that is a good confirmation so you may to add the entry back to your log. Michael,AA5SH

Rhetorical question, slightly off topic: If it was a pirate, why did LoTW accept the digitally signed logs and match QSOs with that DX callsign? Doesn't that defeat the point of LoTW?

LoTW didn't accept the qso from the pirate. The unmatched message seems to be reporting that I have an entry in LoTW that I uploaded for a QSO with SV1GA/A but that QSO does not exist in my log. After uploading it to LoTW I deleted the QSO in Qlog as I realised it was a pirate. Unless you can explain differently by looking at the code?

Have you tried to log into your LoTW account at https://lotw.arrl.org and see how the QSO appears? From the message you posted above QLog is saying that LoTW has a valid QSL for you from SV1GA/A, only way to be sure is to log into your LoTW account and see how it appears there. In my opinion you have a valid QSO from that operation earlier this year. I know that there is some controversy about that expedition but ARRL seemed to think it had the valid paperwork to authorize it for DXCC. I for one was glad I was able to work them, needed it for an ATNO.
