I have searched the existing issues, both open and closed, to make sure this is not a duplicate report.

The bug

For the past few days, Immich only groups a small set of previously seen faces. Any new face I import is never recognized or grouped.

Reproduction steps

I first noticed this issue two days ago when uploading brand-new photos: face‐recognition grouped only existing faces and failed to detect any new ones.

Most of those logs are inconsequential warnings about rejecting the upload of an asset that already exists on the server. Intertwined with those I see a few logs saying

Which looks like face detection is working fine.

Are these new faces/people?
By default there must be 3 faces found to make a person that will be displayed as a person object on a photo

No, it does not add faces to existing people, and since April 26, none of the faces detected in the new photos have been displayed under People. There are clear faces in the new uploads, but nothing appears.
