Buy Mountain Duck 5 License now?

Now that Mountain Duck 5 beta is out, it seems ever so closer to release. If I was to buy a license today, would it work with the final release of Mountain Duck 5? If not when can we buy a License for 5, as it doesn't seem wise to buy one for 4 when 5 is close to release now. I want to pay for the software, but that wouldn't be a smart investment in software about to be replaced with a major version.

Mountain Duck 5 licenses can't be purchased yet, and Mountain Duck 4 licenses can only be upgraded once Mountain Duck 5 is released. For the upgrade, you'll receive an upgrade discount depending on the date of purchase.

@ChadCK thanks for the Q. I had browsed the docs before arriving here trying to answer the same question. I'll propose an addition to https://docs.mountainduck.io/mountainduck/support/licensing/#is-the-registration-key-valid-for-future-version if I get around to it to have the version transition period covered as well.

I can now confirm that Mountain Duck 4 licenses sold today onwards will receive a free upgrade for version 5.

Does this mean "from today onwards" or "only today" ?

I have updated my comment to clarify. Licenses purchased since this week are already for version 5. Customers who purchased within the last two months already received an email with a license valid for version 5.

@dkocher You have a new user! Feels much better than fuse this far, and as a Java developer, I'm intrigued by the UX of the distribution.
