Been wondering about this too, last itme I tried messing with upscalers I was playing with ravu,anime4k and ssim super res. There's no reason you can't use anime upscalers for film though. Even if it's made and tested for anime first and foremost, upscaling is upscaling, and if it's better than lanczos for anime it's usually better than lanczos for film too. I remember testing it with anime4k and getting pretty decent results. I guess most people who make these upscalers just happen to heavily favor anime, it's not so strange with how rare good films are these days I suppose. |

Most of the upscaling shaders of MPV are made for Anime, but I watch lots of real world contents, many of them are very old which are lower than 480P.
After searching on the internet, some people said that
ravu-zoom-ar-r3
andnnedi3-nns256-win8x6
were the best choices, but those had been released for many years, isn't there any newer and better upscaler now?By the way, even my AMD RX6750XT can't run
nnedi3-nns256-win8x6
without dropping frames. I also triednnedi3-nns128-win8x6
, it caused unstable refresh rate for my monitor with adaptive-sync enabled, it didn't happen toravu-zoom-ar-r3
