@teolemon
We can separate the on-device message into a highlighted section explaining the ranking stuff (section like the one about allergens) and use shield-lock icon alongside on-device storage message to convey privacy.
Also add a more details like { ( i ) } to explain it further in a dialog.... or not.

Would love your feedback.

Could you assign me to this issue? Thank you!

@tshrrx i think it would be best if you could provide a mockup of your implementation idea

If I match the UI with current PlayStore release, something like this

and after implementation of Issue #6459,

What do you think?

@g123k would love hear your take on this.

I think the information icon might not be the best to indicate privacy. Maybe a lock would work better?

The text is also pretty long and uses complicated language. We should simplify that. Here is a good tool to help with that: https://hemingwayapp.com/

Thanks for recommending the tool! I’ve simplified the text for clarity and changed the icon to a shield containing padlock:
"Choose the food preferences that matter most. They rank foods and provide a compatibility summary. Your preferences are stored on your device and aren’t linked to your Open Food Facts account."

Let me know if this works or if you'd like any further tweaks!

I quite like it. One open question could be: Do we want the lock icon to be monochromatic? To match the other icons. I would also be fine with it being deliberately different.

What is the license for that icon?

I can adjust the lock icon to be monochromatic for consistency or keep it distinct to emphasize privacy—whichever works best, though I prefer the latter.

As for the icon, I checked the website and it's free for commercial use with attribution, but I can always create one myself.
Also, which UI should I align with—the current release or the new UI?
