Selecting which block variant to place

Thank you for your work. It is immensely useful.
I have a request. Many blocks have different variations, most notably air, and ground variations. I often use those variations somewhere else than intended. For example, I will place a block on the ground, enable block mixing and copy it, so that I then can use the ground variant in the air as well. The same the other way around: I will place a block in the air, copy it with block mixing enabled, and then use it below ground. This works, but is very inconvenient. Would it be possible to add an option which block variant to use before placing it? I'm using ManiaPlanet and don't know how this works in TM 2020.

I think that may already be a feature in the plugin Editor++ although that may only be compatible with TM2020. Were you using this in MP4?
