macOS Setup for Development

This will install the most popular tools and tweaks I use.

Open Terminal.app, type this and press enter:

/usr/bin/python -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/alemohamad/mac-setup/master/setup.py)"

Just follow the instructions.

Software

• Brew & Brew Cask with AutoUpdate
• Node.js, PHP, Ruby, Python, Gulp, Composer and Git
• Visual Studio Code, Atom and VIM
• A bunch of Fonts, including my beloved Comfortaa
• Essential Software: including Google Chrome, Min, Hyper, GitHub Desktop and a few more
• Some macOS tweaks

Options

• Developer Tools: Docker Toolbox, Sequel Pro, tunnelblick, ngrok
• iOS Tools: Cocoapods, Fastlane
• Android Tools: Java 8, Android Studio
• Web Developer Tools: Imageoptim, Composer, MySQL
• Designer Tools: Invision Sync, Scala Preview, Handbrake
• Oh My Zsh: Zsh, but better. Also includes Pure prompt.
• Animations: Makes all the Finder animations (Spaces, Exposé, Resizing) much faster.

Mac App Store Tools

• You can install mas by typing brew install mas, which lets you install App Store apps via the command line.
• Must install: Keynote, Numbers, Pages, Xcode, Transmit, Sketch, Pixelmator Pro, Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo, Affinity Publisher, iBooks Author, 1Password, Telegram, Bear, Couleurs, Amphetamine, Trello, Dato, Rotato, Mactracker
